Would you sweep out and area with a big truck then go in on foot to finish them off with a melee weapon and which vehicle would you use.

A school bus modifyed to sit lower to the ground with added armor on the sides. A cow catcher shaped blade but on the front and 4 foot blades put on the sides that are about 4 inchs wide and 1 inch thick at the base secured on the inside of the bus at a slanted back angle to prevent hooking zombies and dragging down the vehicle. Fireing ports on the sides with them large enough to accomidate spears and crossbows to fire out of them in order to conserve ammo. The roof modifyed to be flat with a railing to prevent personell from falling off while makeing it posible to observe and shoot from the roof while keeping safetey in mind. Have a cleanup team come in behind the sweeper bus to remove Identification and anything useful from the corpses then load them into the back of a dump truck for disposel. Set up scout teams to get a good look at the area that is going to be cleaned then send in armored dozers through the area to remove any blockages that would prevent the sweeper bus from effecent operation. Have 4 man sweeper teams come through the area about 10 minutes after the sweeper bus to clean up any missed zeds before the cleaner trucks come through.

i have to agree that is a good idea. just make sure the bus is in good condition, have a mechanic on your team to check it out... you break down... well, your screwed. lol. and maybe like mod the back end so that it can drop down, and have quads in the bus so that if it does break down, or you crash, or zombies jam it up, you can drop down the back, and drive out in a quick escape, and have your scout team behind you cover you. (just an idea)

If you are smart, you would be teaching yourself how to be a mechanic. At least the basics.

But we may not have enough time to learn.

The best chance of survival is to stockpile diesel fuel if you are nearby to an airport, using as little of the fuel as possible to reach it. Clear your way to a helicopter that works. Mount MGs to the sides as door guns. Fly from safe point to safe point, transporting survivors to and from places and shooting zombies as we go. In the new world, transport will be valuable, and trading food and supplies for service will probably form the new world economy. Take a slice of the pie and get lucky. Or dead.

There is always enough time to learn. Whether it be right now, or after the outbreak. The largest profitable trade supply is knolwedge. Knowledge is also going to make your chances for survival a possability. The funny thing is that out of alll of the apocalyptic forums I have been on, not a single one named the most important location in the world.

The Library.

Not only can you learn how to be a mechanic from a book, but you can learn how to make explosives, melee weapons, chemicals, plumbing, etc... The list goes on.

Machine Guns (MG) are a boys favorite weapon, however it is one of those unlikely weapons. The only way I see this possible is if you run across a dead military group/ kill a military group/ or purchase illegal weapons beforehand. Even then these weapons are an extreme waste of resources. You will run through more rounds than you could for an entire month with a semi-auto rifle of the same caliber. Which will most likely leave you in massive trouble since ammunition is going to be one of those gold treasures at the end of the rainbow.

touch'e, my friend. I too believe that the library is a great place to learn about the outbreak.

what would you suggest we should use instead of MGs? Air-rifles require too much accuracy to be used during a helicopter ride.

Other guns are either too rare or too short ranged. Can we find a way to make a rapid firing crossbows on the internet, because I think it is one thing that the library cannot teach us.

Quite the opposite. Libraries can teach you the chemical combinations to create explosives, gun powder, and other such useful knowledge. These contents are normally taught in Science. The only true issue seen is that the materials may be known, but you will have to search for them elsewere.

Converting an Airsoft Gun into a lethal weapon is not a difficult feat. MGs will not be supported mostly. You do understand that a lot of hunters own .30-06, which is a rifle/ shotgun used mainly for hunting purposes. In your country they are legal as long as you have a hunting license. I also know for a fact that there are a lot of gangs in the UK. They most likely have pistols and other forms of semi-automatic weapons. MGs are hard to get a hold of (even for a former veteran like myself).

As for that one shot weapon that may malfunction that you posted in another thread - I have made super shotguns the size of my neck in width. Using it requires two people. The main objective is SAFETY. Everything else is a waste of time if you can not ensure your own longevity.

A semi automatic rapid firing crossbow is a really good idea and we would have to try and figure out a way to make one
