oh..... I thought you were trying to say a lead pipe is better cuz pistols have
a long barrel where the pipe has a swing range

There are a few pistols that do indeed have long barrels. Most of the old
school black powder pistols had an average of 13 inches on the barrel alone,
but they weighed in at 28 pounds. As for not using a pistol - that is because
the average lethality range of a pistol is in between 25 to 50 yards
(completely dependent on the caliber and load of the weapon). With this being
said - the military does most of their combat through long range, suppressive
fire, or through large blast ratio. Thus for short range they rely on shotgun
for spread pattern, rifle for long range accuracy and light machine guns for
suppression. To add to this you are looking at ammunition available. 9mm, .40,
.45 are common in any stores and any gun owner will more than likely have one
of these three types of ammunition. All in all it is always a great idea to
have a secondary weapon. Pistols are exactly this. SECONDARY.

.22 should also be easy to find because its the cheapest to buy so people
commonly shoot it, but it doesn't pack as much of a punch. the only reason the
lethality is so short is because pistols are hard to aim at distance, its hard
to hit a target at 10 yards with a pistol, it takes alot more practice

It is not the aim. I can guarantee that you will be able to hit a target the
size of a lemon in 10 yards no issue with some hard training. It is because of
the resistance the air causes which ultimately slows down the projectile to
less-that-lethal-speeds. As for a .22 - its lethality is because it bounces
around in your body. If doesn't have enough penetration to initially punch
through the skull unless you are danger close. Which is why I left that
munition type out.

I will fire anything I can get my hands on, but any bullet can go through the
eye, or nose easily and sometimes the mouth or ears, it just takes better aim
to get the kill shot

Yes, the ear, mouth, eye, and temple are weak spots. So is the nose. However
the issues with using these weak spots is that some of them are not really
effective. The ear is directly below the brain. If you shot straight through
you might not touch the brain at all, however might just shoot through muscle.
The temple's path of penetration is mostly effective for eye sight. The reason
people die from this wound is because of Hydraulic Shock. With a .22 there is
limited to no hydraulic shock and the path if it were straight through this
weakness would lead to limited damage before passing through the other temple.
The eye is the best selection. 98% of people who shoot themselves in the eye
die. The Mouth is only effective if you are shooting at an upward path, unless
you by chance hit the spinal cord directly. Though I still believe the .22 will
not sever the spinal column, so the better option would be to shoot through the
mouth in an upward path to strike the brain-stem.

Hand guns are a great weapon to keep with you at all times. There will be times
when carrying a long gun is less than desirable, such as if you have a
fortification and your in the kitchen a long gun would get in the way and be
potentially dangerous. Also if your in the john it would be nice to still be
armed in the stall. Should you rely on a handgun only? Lord no, but they do
have a place in every armory.

hand guns are good for a last resort after you have used your primary and
secondary weapons. i would go with a 9mm or a 45mm(get exstended mag) but never
use a hand gun as your primary unless it is a last resort.

Hand guns were never designed to be a primary weapon, it is an up close weapon.
But post Zday I wont be caught without one on me. Whether it be my .357
revolver or my .45 auto I will have one on me as a last resort weapon.

Something else to think about - If you are running aorund with a rifle, a
pistol would better serve as your close quarters weapon when entering a
building. It will be more effective for sweeping rooms. |
